Exec Summary

Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS) successfully expands operations with new bases in regional NSW with the aid of Forsythes Technology's IT, Networking and Unified Communications teams.

Challenge

Develop robust, scalable and holistic IT solutions that enable WRHS to focus on delivering their life-saving service across regional NSW. Adding new bases in Belmont and Lismore required scaled up infrastructure and support systems to handle seamless local base operations and inter-base operations and communications, all by a firm
go-live date.

How we helped

In early 2017 Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service expanded its rescue helicopter operations to new bases in Belmont and Lismore, as well and expanding infrastructure in Tamworth. Forsythes Technology efficiently delivered a multi-team project which involved deploying a new private cloud server environment in FIT Cloud to cater to the increased demand from the additional users, an extension of the IP telephony and Unified Communications systems onto the new bases and network expansion to ensure internet and WAN access from the new locations.

As WRHS partnered with Forsythes Technology for its entire IT portfolio, Forsythes Technology was able to provide a cohesive approach to delivering all aspects of a complex migration and implementation project. An overall project manager was able to coordinate efforts from various Forsythes Technology teams to make the project as seamless as possible for the new bases’ go-live dates.

We need to focus on the core part of the operation – rescuing lives. So, anything that takes away from that is a problem. Having Forsythes manage our technology needs and know they understand our business means we can stay focused on what matters.

The result

The new bases went live with networks implemented, phone systems at the ready and a scaled up dedicated private cloud Citrix environment cut-over and ready for the increased user numbers.
